New-Old Table

I've always loved the raw wood tables at Le Pain Quotidien, so today I sanded down my old farmhouse table. The table surface had gotten really worn and dirty, and so it was satisfying to reveal the wood texture under the grime. After sanding it down, I put a light oil on it to keep the blonde look of the wood.

Pots and Pans

So proud of myself for mastering the drill and getting the pot and pan rack up all on my own. This is the third kitchen this pot rack has lived in and I have to do a shout out to my mum for coming up with this ingenious and cheap way to hang our pots and pans. It's just 2 curtain holders and an cut-off broom stick. Awesome! Now I might need to give those pots a good scrub.

Jacob 'posing' as a handyman

Jacob finished installing the lighting today, and it looks amazingly professional. I think he had a bit too much fun posing for this photo. Hot.

Kitchen lighting

Jacob installed the ikea kitchen lighting last night (while I lazily read in bed). I don't know where he got his energy, but it looks amazing.

Before and After- Kitchen backsplash

We added Benjamin Moore Chalkboard paint to the backsplash.

Bedroom closet wall

Jacob and I are dreaming of building a built-in closet against our bedroom wall, inspired from the amazing Park Hyatt Hotel in Seoul Korea. We're trying to work out a way to do this cheaply, but still elegantly.

Lamps...

We're going to install a hanging light over the dining room table and trying to decide between these two. Or we could wait and find something vintage...

Stoop sale

This weekend we followed the advice of the Apartment Therapy book and did a huge purge/clean out of all of our stuff before moving out. We went through every item in the house and asked ourselves if we needed it/loved it/ever used it. For Jacob, this was most challenging with his books, for me, my vintage clothing. But in the end we gave up more than 8 bags of clothes, 4 boxes of books, and so many nick nacks, you couldn't count! We made over $200 in the sale, and donated everything that was left over to goodwill.

Our friends came out to hang out, and rummage through our give-aways.
My pile of clothes, with Billie hiding under!

Making a cabinet

Today we worked on building a living room cabinet. We've both been working constantly for the last 2 weeks and we're pooped! Can't wait to actually move and relax a little bit.

Painting

Without even meaning to, we have ended up paining the whole apt. The blue room is our captain's room creative room. The other photo is me painting the living room.
